Privacy Policy

Hoverful is a Chrome extension that shows a website's rank, traffic, domain age and DR when you hover a link. We only handle the data this needs.

01What we process

When you hover or select a link, the extension sends only that link's domain (for example, wikipedia.org) to our server to look up its data. It never sends the full URL, path, query string or page content.

To prevent abuse, such as bulk scraping or hammering the API, our server stores the IP address a request comes from.

02We don't log lookups

We don't record which domains you look up and we keep no logs of lookup requests, so the sites you check are never tied to your IP address.

We don't collect browsing history, page content, accounts or other personal information, and the extension contains no analytics or ad tracking.

03How we use IP addresses

Stored IP addresses are used only for rate limiting and spotting abuse. They are never used for profiling or advertising, never sold, and never shared with third parties unless the law requires it.

04Data kept on your device

Your settings, favorites and on/off state live in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local) and are never uploaded to our server. Uninstalling the extension removes them.

05Third-party services

Website data is provided by query.domains. Site icons in the card load from favicon.im, which receives the domain and your IP address when an icon loads and is governed by its own privacy policy.

06Website analytics

This website (hoverful.com) uses pageview.click to measure visits, such as page views and referrers, only to understand overall traffic to the site. This runs on the website only, not in the extension.

07Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above. Questions? Reach us through the Feedback link at the bottom of the page.
